Historical Materials – Documents and Pictures

An illustration of the bakuryo (airing of the treasures) of Shosoin, when it was opened on October 18th, 1833, and an illustrated scroll depicting the treasures. The il-lustration of the bakuryo is a copy of an il-lustration in Todaiji Temple. The scroll is probably a copy of one of the illustrated scrolls created by Hara Zaimei (1781-1844) of the Kyoto painting circle, actually viewing the treasures. It shows the situation of opening the Shosoin Repository and check-ing the treasures during the Edo period.(「Passing Down the Shosoin Treasures 」2019)
