Crafts – Cloisonné Enamels

The representative piece by Namikawa Yasuyuki, commissioned by Emperor Meiji to be exhibited in the 1900 Paris International Exposition, where it received a gold medal. Namikawa introduced new expressions in shippo enamels, developing black transparent enamel, and varying the thickness of the metal wires used to divide the enamels making them seem similar to brush strokes.(「Passing Down Masterpieces」2020)
