Ko-kyo (the Confucian Book)

A manuscript by Sanjonishi Sanetaka ( 1455-1537 ), famous classicist and specialist in ancient practices. Kokyo was selected by Emperor Genso of the Tang Dynasty. According to the notes at the end of the scroll, it was copied from the original used at the ceremony when a noble boy, in this case, Emperor Gokomatsu, is taught how to read Chinese books for the first time.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
