Carp

Kuroda Toko ( 1787-1847 ), a close servant of Ikeda Nakamasa, lord of Tottori clan, learned painting from Hijikata Torei also active in Kyoto, and often painted realistic flowers and birds, and especially carp. In this painting, a school of carp is marvelously depicted fully utilizing the qualities of ink.
