Set of stationery stand and ink-stone box with design of writing of the tale of Genji in the Ishiyama temple in makie
This was ordered by the Imperial Household Ministry for the Paris International Exposition in 1900. The design is based on the legend that the Tale of Genji began in the Ishiyama Temple. The history on the box and the scene of moon reflecting on the face of the water on the stand are expressed efficiently in gold and silver togidashimakie on the black lacquer ground.（「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.2」2003）
