Poems from the Anthology "Wakan Roeishu", Kumogami Version
The name of this piece comes from the paper decorated with dark blue cloud ( kumo ) patterns. The cloud patterns which are placed at the lower right and upper left of each sheet creating a beautiful effect. It is the oldest example using kumogami ( cloud patterned paper ) existing. The characters are written in a mixture of kaisho (block), gyosho ( semi-cursive), and sosho (cursive ) styles. Considered to be written by Minamoto no Kaneyuki (11th century ).(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
