Towed Horse at the Shore

Towed Horse at the Shore

Denzen ( 1748-1822 )' s talent in painting was discovered by Matsudaira Sadanobu, lord of Shirakawa clan, and studied under Tani Buncho learning western techniques and copperplate printing, and also studied under Shiba Kokan. This work shows influence by J.E.Ridinger ( 1698-1767 ), a German copperplate print artist, and is typical of Denzen' s style.
