Poetry of Each Passing Day
- Showa period, dated 1934
- color on silk
- hanging scroll
Paintings – Japanese / Asian Paintings
Hashimoto was a representative animal painter of the Showa era with Nishimura Goun, often using cows as his motif. This is highly appraised among them, the cow with a humanlike expression standing in a field under the moon. Unusual for him, the environment is soundly depicted, and the cow is depicted with a heavy feeling of mass. However, perhaps reflecting the situation of the time, the background space spreads out obscurely, leaving an even nihilistic impression.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.2」2003)
