Crafts – Arms / Armor

Shizu is the name of a place in the Mino province ( Gifu prefecture ), and because it is the place where Kaneuji made his swords, it also indicates Kaneuji himself. This sword was a treasure of the Ukita family passed down to the Tokugawa family and then on to the Ikeda family, from which it was presented to Emperor Meiji in 1891.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
