Snow in a Fishing Village

print

Terasaki Kogyo

Paintings – Japanese / Asian Paintings

A fishing village is covered in deep white snow. Fishing boats can be seen in the sea, and snowy mountains rise above the clouds as if floating in the distance. Ink is used effectively to accentuate the whiteness of the snow. Purchased by the Ministry of the Imperial Household in 1914, this is a work from the final years of Terasaki Kogyo’s life.(「Imperial Splendor:Artworks Related to the Tohoku Region」2021)
