Sakaida Kakiemon XII who was born in a potter family which continues since the early 17th century, created this imaginary animal kirin figure using white porcelain which is more adaptable to sculpturing than the figurines with iroe painting seen in the Kakiemon style wares up to then. It was a gift celebrating the enthronement ceremony in 1928 from Saga Prefecture.(「Reviewing Modern Ceramics 」2021)
