Calligraphy – Japanese Calligraphy

Cho Sanshu from Bungo country was a superior poet and painter. His pseudonym was Sanshu. Although this poem is included in the ' Sanshu Koji Shu Vol.10 ' as Chisuisenken ( washing ink stone in the water of pond ) ' ( written in 1894 ), the artist's signature and seal shows that it was written in February 1895. Because his death was in March of the same year, it was one of his latest works with grace, dignity and nobility.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.2」2003)
