Paintings – Japanese / Asian Paintings

Kano Osanobu ( 1796-1846 ) acted as a painter serving the Tokugawa Shogunate. This is a painting following the composition of that painted by Kano Tan'yu around 1660. However, the background depiction not included in Tan'yu' s painting, and the neutral ( sexless ) face expression compared to Tan'yu' s painting shows Osanobu' s image of Ushiwakamaru.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
