Ryukyu-style lacquered stand for tea ceremony utensils
Ryukyu-style lacquered stand for tea ceremony utensils
A tea ceremony table with two posts supporting the surface board, on which pavilions and human figures are depicted. Inter-linking circles and arabesque patterns are applied framing the boards and on the posts. The designs are quite colorful expressed by mitsudae, urushie, and hakue techniques. Records show that a set of Chinese tea utensils such as a water jar and ladle stand were placed on this table.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
