Pendant ornament (Horyuji treasures)

A braided cord with a rhombus pattern created by bright red, yellow-green, dark blue, gold and silver threads. On each end is a gilt copper metal fitting with openwork decorated with tufts, and bells in the shape of lotus seeds are fastened to the sides excluding the center. These are placed to hang down when this cord is tied at the center, showing how this was intended to be used.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
