Orchid and Bamboo

Xue Chuang, a Zen priest of the late Yuan Dynasty, is also famous as a master of molan ( orchids in ink ) paintings. He was famous before became the chief priest of the noted Reigenji Temple in 1328, and Japanese priests such as Choun Reho learned from him. His orchid ink paintings are listed as a present in Kanmongyoki by Gosuko-in and is referred to articles in the books by Zen priests, influencing our culture greatly.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
