The motif is taken from the waka poem of Histone from the Tale of Genji. Designs are expressed by red lacquer, tortoise shell, dyed antlers, mother of pearl inlay, deferent kinds of wood on the base of paulownia wood, and letters from waka poems scattered in various parts. This box holds a set of sewing utensils, irons, pincushions, folding measures, spindles, and spatulas, etc.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.2」2003)
