Landscapes of the Four Seasons

Paintings commissioned by Emperor Meiji, to be exhibited in the 1900 Paris International Exposition, created by Kawabata Gyokusho (1842-1913). Scenic areas of the four seasons are depicted, such as Mt.Yoshino, Nezame-no-Toko, Usuitoge Pass, and Itsukushima Shrine. It was first created as a four-panel folding screen painting, but it was not exhibited in the mentioned exposition as a folding screen, and was completed in a framed style.(「Passing Down Masterpieces」2020)
