Draft for Illustrated Scrolls on the Achievements of Iwakura Tomomi
A historical illustrated scroll tracing the political history of the end of Edo to Meiji periods, focusing around the life of Iwakura Tomomi (1825-83), a statesman who contributed to the Meiji Restoration. The 14th volume shows the scene of the Kogosho Conference when the punishment of Tokugawa Yoshinobu was sharply argued. In the 17th volume, Iwakura is depicted confronting Saigo Takamori, one of the Seikan-ha (supporters of sending army to Korea) and others.(「Passing Down Masterpieces」2020)
