Illustrations of customary and temporary Imperial affairs
These are illustrations attached with sixty-seven albums recording customary and temporary imperial affairs, produced to record declining traditional ceremonies and affairs of the Imperial Court after the Meiji Restoration. 35 illustrations of customary Imperial affairs and 24 temporary Imperial affairs are recorded. Proposed by Iwakura Tomomi, it was produced by the Office of Ceremony Research before the Meiji Restoration taking about ten years, and offered to Emperor Meiji in 1887. The illustrations are by Higuchi Moriyasu who painted for the Imperial Family and the Imperial Household Agency.
