Jurojin (God of Longevity), Crane and Tortoise
This set of three hanging scrolls was presenteds to Crown Prince Yoshihito (later Emperor Taisho) by all members of the Ministry of the Imperial Household to celebrate the Crown Prince’shis marriage in 1903. Jurojin, who appears on the scroll in the middle, is one of the seven gods of good fortune and represents longevity along with the cranes and turtles depicted on the other two scrolls. Other symbols of longevity, such as reishi mushrooms, pines, bamboo, and plums, can also be found on the paintings.（「The Imperial Family and Miyazaki Prefecture」2021）
