Celadon ware vase with cloud and dragon design in openwork
- Taisho period, 1913
Crafts – Ceramics
A celadon piece which is rare for Kato Tomotaro, who was strong in delicate underglaze painting. A dragon in relief is placed on the four sides of the rectangular form, and the space is covered with cloud patterns in openwork. Though it is quite technical carving work, the deep green color of the celadon glaze gives it an antique and composed appearance.(「Reviewing Modern Ceramics 」2021)
