Crafts – Ceramics

A vase with drooping plum branches left white with lines painted with cobalt underglaze, and the space covered with gosu ( zaffer ) painted with a brush. This work is Kozan’s challenge towards the cobalt underglaze porcelain created at official kilns in the Kangxi era (1662-1722) of the Chinese Qing dynasty, and is a valuable piece which shows Kozan’s admiration towards Chinese ceramics during the mid 1890’s.(「Reviewing Modern Ceramics 」2021)
