Paintings – Japanese / Asian Paintings
A painting depicted with reality conscious of accurate sketching of the figures of parent and child beating cloth with a wooden block in the autumn evening, but also things such as trees, houses, a bridge etc. Also, in spite of restrained color tones, distinct contrast of the deep red of the bush clover's flowers, green of undergrowths and light blue of the sky give the feeling of the clear and cool autumn air. It represents Kono's painting style of the late 1870s to middle 1880s.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.2」2003)
