Important Cultural Property

This is known as one of the earlier works of the many examples of the same type picture painted from the Muromachi to the Edo periods. The harmonized arrangement of the horse stable occupying the entire composition, a bamboo grove growing straight up in the background, and variously posed tethered horses, is wonderful. During restoration done in 1998, the order of the four center sheets in the right screen was proved to be mistaken, and therefore corrected. (「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
