This is a collaborated scroll by twelve painters who participated in the new Yamatoe movement headed by Matsuoka Eikyu, and was made to accompany the cabinet with phoenix and chrysanthemum design which was made to celebrate the wedding of the Crown Prince in 1924. Each scene are planned as allegorical pictures of important events of the nation or each cultural fields such as politic, military affairs, education, agriculture, commerce, industry, fishery, religion, art, music, drama, transportation and sport, as modern genre scenes of the early Showa era when this was made painted by dignified brushwork.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.2」2003)
