Satsuma ware vases which were succeeded as Enryokan furnishings when Enryokan was transferred from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Imperial Household Ministry in 1884. Satsuma ware were highly valued in foreign countries as important export products of the Satsuma clan from late Edo period to early Meiji period, and this kind of large vase was created with flower and bird designs in bright colored enamels, before other areas in Japan.(「Auspicious Events of the Meiji Period」2018)
