Paintings – Japanese / Asian Paintings

Pine trees growing from a rock on the fore right, a house on the cape, and beyond the cape is a sunset. Though small in size, this is a superior landscape by Maruyama Okyo. The composition with rocks and pine trees in the forehand is a style Okyo favored, and Okyo painted temple screen paintings based on this kind of sketch.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
