Paintings – Japanese / Asian Paintings

Okamoto Shuki ( 1807-62 ) emphasized realism, and was a master in flower and bird paintings, ranking equal with Tsubaki Chinzan. He studied under Kuwagata Keisai and Watanabe Kazan, and established a technique through unique practice and created paintings through sketching nature. Though this is a small piece, it is an outstanding one showing Shuki' s features.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
