print

  • Azuchi-Momoyama to early Edo periods, 16-17th century
  • color on paper
  • set of three volumes

Paintings – Japanese / Asian Paintings

Three books on the three climax subjects of the Tale of Soga Brothers. The content is close to the Bunrokubon of the Daigashira style, within Kowakamai and Joruri dramas. Judging from the gold and silver foil and paint used abundantly, and the minute depiction in a variety of dark colors, it is considered as a work of the Bunroku to Keicho eras.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
