Paintings – Oil Paintings

This is by Yanagi, the first son of Takahashi Yuichi, depicting drill maneuvers of army and navy alliance in Aichi Prefecture in March 1890. Composed by restrained dark tone of colors based on black, spatial depth and spreading continuing from the foreground, middle distance showing his high level of technique. It is quite precious as one of Yanagi's few existing works showing his excellence in landscape depiction on large-scale screens. (「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.2」2003)
