Paintings – Japanese / Asian Paintings

One of the pictorial scrolls of old Joruri dramas, created by Iwasa Matabei and his studio. With the unique style of plump cheeks and long chins, and curved arms and legs, known as Matabei style, the love story of Oguri and Terutehime folds out lively and dramatically in bright colors, throughout this long scroll of 324 meters. It is the representative work of Matabei and his studio, and shows the characteristics of the outstanding pictorial scrolls of the early modern era.
