A poem composed by Yoshida Shoin ( 1830-59 ) when he saw the Imperial Palace in Kyoto during his attempt to depart west from his country secretly in 1853. He wrote the poem down on this scroll three years later in 1856.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
