Paintings – Japanese / Asian Paintings

Autumn flowers such as morning glories and ominaeshi ( patrinia scabiosaefolias ) are depicted charmingly with supple lines and colors on one side, and a landscape with a pavilion is painted mysteriously with delicate ink brush strokes on the other side. This is superb work by Goshun ( 1752-1811 ) who learned the Nanga ( Chinese painting ) of Buson, while being strongly influenced by Okyo, and established the Shijo School. (「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
