The artist Koho I began making Nachi Black Inkstone when he was around 24 or 25 years old, and was awarded the Wakayama Prefecture Master Artisan Award in 1982. This inkstone weighs over six kilograms and has an imposing appearance. It was a gift from the mayor of Nachikatsuura to Emperor Showa when he visited Wakayama in May 1962.(「Wakyama and the Imperial Family」2021)
