A painting album commissioned by the Imperial Household Ministry to Kawabata Gyokusho of the Maruyama school and Murase Gyokuden of the Shijo school, both in Kyoto. In contrast with Gyokuden’s traditional painting style succeeding that of the Edo period, Gyokusho’s paintings show shading expressions conscious of western style paintings.(「A Cross Section of Meiji Art 」2018)
