Archaeological Works

This jar was excavated in Gorgan which was a city near the Caspian Sea in northern Iran. Black colored dot patterns were applied under blue glaze, and iridescence is seen on the surface of the glaze, caused by a chemical change called smoltification which occurs underground.
Gift from Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, Shah of Iran, in 1974. (「Art of Various Eras and Countries from Around the World」2018)
